Project management research has evolved primarily from the engineering disciplines; however, it is now an integral element of information technology and software project management. Researchers in IT project management focus on problems that cover a large range of topics that cut across many IS areas -- virtual project management, agile project management, knowledge networks, project management methodologies (e.g. PRINCE), distributed project management, project leadership, project quality metrics, project management standards, best practices in project management, and project success.

This Special Interest Group (SIG) of the Association for Information Systems is comprised of a passionate group of individuals that are interested in IT project management. We actively sponsor tracks at AMCIS and ECIS as well as host our own pre-ICIS workshop devoted to IT project management.
